Free Christmas Comparing Fractions Game

Materials:
Dice
Set of 12 Like Objects (Call these Set A)
Set of 12 Like Objects (Call these Set B)
Empty Bag
Math Journal (or paper)

Players:  Game may be played with 2-6 players (or more).  More players makes this game significantly harder.  This is a great way to differentiate.  Lower students play with partners. Average students play with 2-4 players.  Advanced players play with 5 or more.

Step 1:  Place all 24 objects in a bag. (Sets A and B)
Step 2: First student rolls the dice.  The first die determines how many A objects to take out of the bag.  The second die determines how many B objects to take out of the bag.
Step 3: Player 1 writes a fraction answering the question, "How many Objects A out of how many total were drawn?"
Step 4: Player 2 takes a turn following the same steps.
Step 5: Players determine whose fraction is larger?  The player with the larger fraction earns one point.
Step 6: The first player to 10 points wins.
